December…again
It is December…again. As I sit here looking at my Christmas tree, drinking coffee from my Christmas mug, I am thinking about how fast this year has flown and I’m thinking about all the things I haven’t done yet. All of the “this is the year I’m going to….” are floating through my head.
December is such a crazy busy, fun, cheerful, stressful, blustery way to end a year. It is a whole month of special this and that’s. It is a time of celebration. It is a month for childhood fantasies and adult breakdowns. December has it all. No matter which holiday or no holiday that you celebrate, you can feel the change in the air, and not just the impending snow and ice.
This month we get to evaluate a whole year we have spent doing. Making. Being. Gaining. Losing. Accepting. Rejecting. We get this month to decide what we want to take into the new year. We get to decide what we do not want to do again, what we do not want to revisit, and what we want to keep in 2023.
Decision December (Decide-ber); What will we decide to do? Will we continue to make the effort? Will we make good decisions, for today, and for the future us? It is a lot to think about when I’m just trying to enjoy my first cup of the day. But if you are like me, that is where thoughts go as we turn the calendar page.
December doesn’t have to feel like the end of anything. It can be a month of celebration, stress included; AND a month of reflection AND planning, dreaming, wishing, and wondering.
May the magic of the season be sprinkled throughout all of your decisions as you navigate this special month. May you decide what is important to you, what is not, and may you take that forward. Happy Decide-ber.
